Buying a handgun with a military ID

What is the process of buying a handgun using a military id? I heard that I just need the CAC card and PCS order. However, I also read that sometimes, a DL may be necessary. What do you FFLs usually do in this situation?
Also, what do I put as my address, the AFB that I am stationed at?

You'll need your military ID, your home State ID, orders to a duty station in Ca.

As for your address, if you live out in town, you need to put that address on your 4473, AND your address to your location on the base. So, on line two of the 4473 you should list your physical address, city, county, and zip code...and directly under that in the same line #2, your military address, city, county, and zip code. DON'T FORGET, if you live out in town, for handgun purchases you will still need secondary proof of residency (utility bill, DMV, etc) to satisfy CA requirements.

So, line #2 should look like this:

1234 non-military lane City County 99999
1234 military lane City County 99999

It really doesn't matter which address is over the other...but this is the way I've always done it. Your military address can be just the listed address of the base you are at, but there should be a more specific address you can get (if mail were to be addressed to you on base what would the address be?) for your squadron, or whatever unit you are attached to.

What exactly do you mean by home state ID? If I am from Ohio, does that mean you want my Ohio DL (even if it is expired)?
