    Handgun transfer Question

I am trying to purchase a handgun from a fellow calgunner, He is not local but lives in Ca. The first 2 FFLs i contacted said both partys must be present for DROS... Is this true? I was under the assumption the gun could be shipped in state for a transfer.

    HELP...

If it is not on the roster (or exempted), the receiving dealer could not transfer it to you unless you are exempted (e.g., LEO).

The gun is on the Roster, i was going to buy the same model new 3 months ago. But neither FFL even asked what kind of gun it was, they just said both partys must be present to DROS.

in that case, both parties would not need to be present for the FFL to DROS it to you. it would not a PPT DROS, (which is limited to $35 total), but would be a regular transfer, and the FFL could charge you whatever he wanted to in order to do the transfer. $25DROS + $25-200 dealer fee is what you can expect to pay.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

You must have said you were trying to do a Private Party Transfer. This transaction woulld not be a PPT unless both of you were at the same dealership. This would be a straight dealer transfer and would not be limited in cost. Ask for pricing on a dealer transfer.
