Kemasa and I have debated this one at length.
Moral of the story is it is up to the dealer. If you simply explain to your customers the DOJ has advised you not to included long guns on a handgun DROS and the $25 to the state is not worth losing your license over, then any customers that leave probably weren't worth putting up with in the first place.
I think it is totally fine, but we still run them on two separate DROSes.www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.Comment

If you look at the laws, each firearm transaction is required to be reported. Each handgun is a transaction and any number of non-handguns that are a single transfer, sale or loan are a transaction, but both have to be reported and due to this you can not add a non-handgun to a handgun DROS sine you would only be submitting one, not two, firearm transaction. Please note that a firearm transaction under CA law is different than a firearm transaction under Federal law.
It is not greedy when it is the law. The State, if anyone, is greedy.
Personally, I think that the law should be changed to allow for long guns to be sold with a handgun since the serial numbers are not submitted for non-handguns.Kemasa.

according to what I was told directly by a CA DOJ rep on a call , you can add as long as you call DOJ and inform them of the increase... now even if you can debate the legalities of that specific issue , your boss has no clue as to what he is doing... he has been giving bad info to customers since he opened. not just as it pertains to gun laws either , he will tell you exactly what he needs to make more money... not a new revelation either. all one has to do is look up the shop online to hear how loved he is around here...
he has never been a CGN supporter either... he never stops *****ing about us!Comment

I have never heard such a clam before, plus it sounds more like you are talking about adding additional long guns to a long gun DROS, not adding long guns to a hand gun DROS.
I have also been told otherwise.Kemasa.

I am specifically stating what i was told by a CA DOJ rep. I was told (not heard from somewhere else) you can add a long gun to a handgun DROS provided you called in and informed DOJ.Comment
-
And I said I have never heard that and have been specifically told otherwise by CA DOJ agents who have been known to give good answers.Kemasa.

For purposes of this subdivision, a "transaction" means a single sale, loan, or transfer of any number of firearms that are not handguns.

Yeah Wes, keep to that concept and use that as an excuse to not submit a DROS for a handgun. You know that a handgun IS a firearm transaction.Kemasa.
