Okay the person is not dead nor even close to death, I guess inheriting is the wrong word, my mom is giving me gun. So what do I have to do?Comment

Coming from out of State it needs to go to an FFL...so you would have to pick one (if you don't already have one you use) to receive the firearm. Your relative could then ship the revolver to the FFL using FedEx or UPS next day air...OR, take it to an FFL in TX to ship to your FFL here...this is probably a cheaper alternative as FFLs can use the Postal Service to ship...much cheaper. She just needs to send a legible copy of her ID and a note saying the gun is for you, make, model, and serial number with the gun.
You would then do 4473 and DROS, pay the FFLs transfer fee + DROS fee, and pick up firearm ten days later...I'm assuming you have an HSC "Handgun Safety Certificate) card...if not, you have to take the test ($25...30 questions...you can miss up to 7)Last edited by jtmkinsd; 12-25-2010, 11:10 PM.Originally posted by orangegloWelcome to failtown, population = you.Comment
