About how much does liability insurance cost if I'm only renting?

Actually the ATF shouldn't care what your business license says, but the CA DOJ will absolutely. Go in and have your business license issuing authority get that on your business license somewhere or the CA DOJ will not give you a CFD number and you will not be a gun dealer.

Once you have your business license with "valid for retail sale of firearms", COE, BOE number, and FFL, submit it to the CA DOJ with the appropriate fees and you should be a gun shop.

Here is who I have my insurance through.
