    Inner state handgun transfer

I am selling a revolver that is over 100 yrs old. The buyer lives about 6 hours away by car. He gave me the address of the 01 FFL dealer he likes. They do not give copies of their license to non FFL holders. That would be me.
FedEx wants an FFL that matches the address on the package, to assure compliance of the laws. I will squash the deal if I have to take it to a local 01 so that they can mail it because I am not paying the $100+ fees, its just not worth it.
Can I, or can I not, ship to an 01? Without an actual hard copy of the FFL?

Have the 01FFL give you the necessary numbers to enter into the ATF eZCheck system. Print the response and see if FedX will accept that. I've never had to show FedX a copy of any FFL. You may have just found a PIA counter person.

neither federal nor state law require you to have a copy of the FFL in order to have it shipped. IN fact, ATF recommends that FFLs NOT give out a copy of the FFL to non-licensees. YOu could asthe FFL for the first and last part of his FFL number so that you can run ith through the ATF EZ-check system. Print out that page and give that to Fedex.

"100 years" doesn't really matter, if it was made before 1899, then it would be an antique, and you could just ship it directly to the buyer.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

How old exactly is it? If it was manufactured in or before 1898 it is an antique, and you can ship it directly to the individual...no FFL is required.

If it was manufactured in 1899 or later, then you must use an FFL. Personally, I would use UPS, but if FedEx is the option you want, then I would ask the receiving FFL for the first three and last five digits of their license number, log onto the ATF ez check website https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/, enter the numbers, print out the result, and that should satisfy FedEX. I've never heard of FedEx requiring a copy of an FFL's license though...If you continue to have issues, you should ask to speak to a supervisor. They have no cause to require a copy of any FFL's license.
