    AK?

Here's one for you folks - What if an individual was given an AK that had not been currently registered, by someone that has since passed. Is there a way for them to register it here in California? That being said, what if they had no idea of it's history. What would the process be?

A banned AK or variant? Either sell it to a LEO, ship it out of state for storage/sale, or turn it in to LE so it can be destroyed...and we can call you a kitten killer.

Not sure, how would that person be able to tale the difference between a banned or variant?

If it is banned by name, then the only thing that you can do is to remove it from CA.

If it is banned by feature, then you could install a bullet button with a 10 round magazine.

        12. Can I inherit and keep a registered assault weapon?

No. Pursuant to California Penal Code section 12285(b), any person who obtains title to a registered assault weapon by bequest or intestate succession shall, within 90 days, render the weapon permanently inoperable, sell the weapon to a licensed gun dealer who has a permit from the Department of Justice to purchase assault weapons, obtain a permit from the Department of Justice to possess assault weapons, or remove the weapon from this state.
