Question for Gun Store owners/employees or FFLs

Hey guys, I need some help. I am writing an article on how to buy your first gun. Can anyone give me some ideas about the things you, as gun store owners, employees, or FFL holders, wish people knew before walking into your store/place of business? Are there any pet peeves you have about first time gun buyers in terms of etiquette or behavior? Any info is greatly appreciated.

You might be sure to cover the info in this article at the Calguns Foundation Wiki.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

I like it when customers are honest about their level of knowledge.

It's always best if they have an idea of their application. E.g. defense, hunting, target shooting, plinking, etc. From there, it's a lot easier to fill in the blanks.
