    Which office...

Which BATFE office handles the Northern Los Angeles/Southern Kern County area (think Edwards AFB, if you need to)? Is it the San Francisco office?

If so, does anyone have a number that will actually go through and not get a disconnected signal?

I suspect it is the LA office based on the location and the small maps, but it is hard to tell.

Los Angeles. SFO picks up south of Fresno.

I called Los Angeles and they swear they do not cover this area... I have called a few different offices with the same result, and it is getting frustrating - to say the least.

I called the LA office and they said it was the San Francisco Office. In fact, it is under the San Francisco field office, BUT it is out of the Fresno Office. That number is 559-487-5093. The main person for the area is in San Francisco, but there are many offices under that main office, just like in the Los Angeles area. They cover Rosamond and at some point towards Lancaster it changes offices, perhaps at the county line, but maybe not.

Part of the issue is that other offices do not know the area so when you say Northern LA, they just say it is the LA office.

Now, depending on your question, you might be able to ask any office your question.

I really just want to check the status (if at all possible) on my business' FFL, or even to see if it has even been receieved (sent out 6 weeks ago)...

Simple to me really... I bet it's more complicated than that though...

That would be an office back east which deals with the applications, not the local offices.
