    Off-roster pistol question

    Dear FFL's,
During a PPT of a non-roster pistol what proof is required that shows the seller actually lived in another State? Do the buyer AND seller both show their California identification? Or, does the seller have to show proof of his current California residency AND proof of a prior non-California residence? What if the seller has been in California for numerous years and no longer has proof of out of State residency? Thank you in advance.

There is no requirement for the seller to have previously lived in another State. For a PPT both parties need to have California ID to show the FFL.

So my sister-in-law can buy a gun in Nevada...sell me a non-roster gun via PPT at a CA FFL dealer? She has a CA drivers license.

How can she buy a firearm in NV?

She would need a NV DL to purchase a handgun in NV.
In order to get a NV DL, you need to turn in your CA DL.

Since Feb 2010, the NV Seasonal Identification Card is no longer a valid form of identification to prove residency in NV for the purpose of transfering firearms.

I believe that in certain other States you can PPT a rifle, pistol or shotgun without a dealer? FTF cash & carry? (ie. neighbors, family, friends, co-workers, gun show, want ads)

right, but both parties must be residents of the same state. If not, then an FFL must be involved.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

But it's up to both parties to verify each others' residency
