    Cal Legal Help

Can any FFL members let me know if Argentine 1911 are California legal to have shipped here? Ballester Molina, Ballester Riguad and Sistema 1927 would be the companies in question if they are legal in California.

    Thanks.

All of them are legal to own in California. Most of them are legal to ship to California. The Ballester Molina and Ballester Rigaud pistols are all exempt from the safe handgun roster because of their "curio & relic" status, so they can be shipped to a California licensed dealer for transfer. Most of the Sistema M1927 pistols are also exempt. The ones made for the Argentine government with serial numbers below 106,328 and all of the commercial model pistols are also exempt because of their C&R status.

The Molina and Rigaud pistols are not true M1911 designs. They only have a couple of parts that will interchange with a 1911. The Hartford and Argentine built M1927 pistols are true 1911 designs and will interchange 100% with USGI 1911 pistols.
