DROS Question

Started the DROS paperwork on a stripped OLL on July 10th at 10:30 A.M. Supposedly, I can pick up the lower on July 20th after 10:30 A.M. What is the latest day and time to pick up the receiver before having to re-DROS it?

must pick up by the 7th of august to be safe....30th day would be the 8th of august

I don't know if the feds take the 30 days literally like Cal DOJ (one handgun per 30 days), but, if they do, and since July has 31 days, I would say you have to pick up by 9Aug before 1000. If it were me, I'd do it on 8Aug to remove any possibility of bureaucratic interpretation. The reason for the 30 days is that is the timeline of the NICS approval.

Yes, the BATF takes the 30 days literally. When I was inspected, that was an issue. The only problem was that Feb. was involved, so it was not really over 30 days.

Paperwork I received from the dealer indicates, "You must pick up your gun within 30 days of the DROS transmittal or you will have to start the process over again (including another 10-day wait)."

So, what determines the "DROS transmittal date?" Is it the date the DROS was signed by me? The date the dealer transmitted it to CADOJ? or the date CADOJ gave the okay to the dealer?

It is the date that the DROS was submitted, or in other words transmitted. It is not actually directly sent to the CA DOJ. On the DROS form, there will be the date and time that it was submitted.

Okay, think I got it now. The transmittal date/time is indicated in the Transaction Date/Time block in the upper left hand corner of the DROS.
