Resident Alien Residency Requirements.

Can anybody clarify if I am correct on this - For purchasing a rifle proof of residency has to be proved along with all the rest of it, PLUS for resident aliens 3 months of continuous residency has to be proved also?
Long story short can bank statements be used to prove three months of continuous residency?
I have purchased three firearms in the last twelve months, two rifles and one handgun from three different shops in the LA area and I used bank statements to prove continuous residency (I was actually told to use bank statements) - I was recently told that only utility bills can be used for this - my problem being all utility builds are in my wife's name.
(I already know bank statements can not be used as proof of residency, I'm referring to the continuous residency requirements for legal aliens).

It looks like bank statements should work. Here is a quote from the back of a Form 4473...

Sale of Firearms to Legal Aliens:Acceptable documentation to prove 90-day continuous residency must be original documentation (e.g., utility bills, current bank statements, rent receipts, mortgage payments, lease agreements, personal property tax bills, documents issued by Federal, State, or local government agencies, first-class mail issued by government agency, insurance policies, or bill with current address or major credit card bill).

Hey thanks, I appreciate that. I thought it must be right otherwise I couldn't have gone ahead with previous gun purchases.
Any chance you can tell me where you found that (so I can print it off and take it in) - I've searched everywhere and I've struggled to find something with that exact wording.

I always used Bank statements and Electric bills. Its right there on the form what you can use. Ironically it needed less when i got the FFL

This doesn't apply to your post here, but may apply to others.

If you're purchasing a handgun you need to comply with the state rules for proof of residency as well which are more stringent then federal:
