isn't a state leo allowed to purchase and possess a non rostered handgun,
even if it is a mpa 930 9mm?
i have read both state and fed books, just get more confused.
    thanks.

LEOs cannot purchase assault weapons without departmental approval.

    12276.1. Assault weapon; further definition.
    (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault
weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
    ...
    (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity
to accept a detachable magazine and any
    one of the following:
    (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a
flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
    (B) A second handgrip.
    (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or
completely encircles, the barrel that allows the
bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or
her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
    (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine
at some location outside of the pistol grip.
    (5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine
that has the capacity to accept more than
    10 rounds.
Is the model you are asking about an AW?

The MPA930 is one of the mini-mac clones from Masterpiece Arms. There's nothing wrong with them, and we've sold dozens to LEO and non-LEO alike.
My posts are my own opinion and reflect no official positions of anyone other than myself.

You can own the Mpa 930t 9mm . I own one but they have to compile with DOJ. No threaded barrel you must screw on a suppressor and tak weld it. Its also not a on listed cal approved gun there for it need to be DROS as a Curio/Relic/Olympic Pistol/Exempt . You must have a block put in when you do the DROS so you cannot put in a clip single shot.

the model i have,mpa930-"mini",has a magazine within the grip and no secondary grip,
it has a threaded barrel but i have permanently attached a compensator.

i have read(or tried to) both the ca.doj and atf publications, and it was
my understanding that weapon is not an assault weapon.
i have returned questionable firearms i have ordered and rec'd before, later to find that local gun shops have them in stock.
that gets pricey being a new class01 ffl.
thanks for the answers and advice.

Mine is a Mini as well but its not a on listed model. I know Mac 11 Mac 10 are on the ban list in cal but I have never see a MPA930 or MPA930T on listed. I can slap a mag in mine as well . Once your reg it you can do about what ever you want but you cannot remove what ever is welded on the threaded barrel . You need to block the receiver so that it is only a single round can be fired you can pm me and ill tell you were and who will DROS it for you. It must be a off listed model . I take it yours is not registered you may want to make the modification and get it in your name quick. Most law enforcement don't know gun laws or want to pretend or test you on what you know. Fighting un reg assault rifle charges are a ***** . Its better to be safe then sorry been there done that and wont do it again.
