Az. 07FFL needs Ca. FFL in Lemon Grove area

I have sold a PSL over Gun Broker to a gentleman in Lemon Grove near San Diego. I know I have to remove the stock to meet your states needs but,,, the buyer is having a terrible time trying to find a FFL holder who will accept the apart rifle, as it needs the awful bullet button on the mag release. I am assuming they are readily available there for FFL's to install but again I am in a free state that does not need such things.
Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to leave on a vacation this Thursday.
Any smiths over there willing to do this and a transfer in the Lemon Grove Area???

PS: As for me doing the install I would if I had a button lock or whatever you call them over there but I am leaving Thurs AM and will be gone until mid October.

The problem is that the firearm can not be shipped to a CA FFL who is not an a-salt weapons dealer unless it is in a legal configuration.

If the firearm can be taken apart such that it is no longer a semi-auto firearm, then it could be shipped and have the rest of it shipped directly as the rest of the parts are not a firearm. Just like all lowers do not have to have the button button installed when that is all there is.

you lost me here with your reply. I can remove the stock and it is now a barreled receiver for shipping, yes/no?
Once it arrives it has the button cover installed and then the new owner can take possession, yes?/no?
This is a new in the box sale item from my business, not one on one private sale.
Your states laws are very confusing to have to deal with, I understand why a lot of sellers/dealers won't ship there.
Being on the stateline with you in Yuma and not having such auwful laws on the books to deal with makes it that much harder to swallow knowing I am a footstep away from your laws.

I am not familiar with that firearm, so I can not say specifically. If it is not banned by name, then you can make it not have the features which make it banned, so it could be shipped to CA. If it is semi-auto, then removing the stock is not enough as it still has a detachable magazine.

For example, an AR lower is not semi-auto. You could make it into a pump action or bolt action, at least in theory. I think there are some companies which do that or at least used to.

If have to make it such that it is no longer a center fire semi-auto firearm.

To be honest, since you have limited time, it might be best to ship it to another FFL who has the time to install the bullet button.

It look like he needs to have a "button" cover over the mag release which is common with the AK type rifles. It takes less than a minute to install one of these, but it must absolutely be installed prior to delivery. Solartactical.com and many an online CA dealer has these in stock. The PSL has only a 10round mag which will need to be locked in place via the "button cover". You can keep the stock on after this "cover" or bullet button is installed in AZ. If you are not willing to buy the part, have your buyer purchase on locally and have him ship it to you. It is very easy to install.

As he stated, he is leaving on a vacation this Thursday and won't be back until October, so time is an issue.

AR style rifles could have the lower sent without the bullet button since without the upper, it is not a semi-auto. AK can not be taken apart like that though.

Here is the easiest thing to do. If the rifle has a flash hider, then you are screwed time wise. If the rifle does not have a flash hider and only has a pistol grip and/or a folding stock, simply remove it. Then it no longer has any evil features and can be shipped in.

In San Diego I would recommend Gusslers for this transaction.

In the future, if you want to sell some of your goodies to California, just buy a few AK mag lock kits and offer to install them. You will open up a whole new market for your sales.

Thanks for all the info on this problem. Your laws in California on what you can and cannot do or have in a weapons system is so beyond me.
Being able to order, and have to sell, or own, or better yet ,a face to face sale without paperwork in our state makes your state laws so odd you would figure those who passed such measures into law would have been voted out by now...
I think my buyer is getting the button cover for this rifle and if he sends it over I will put it on for him and then ship it as a complete rifle to the new FFL,(Gusslers) we have found if he so desires.
Your FFLs needing to collect taxes and monies for dros? and then transfer fees and whatever else is another crazy......Here we charge a simple transfer fee,(mine is 25 or 20 if military and or a LEO but no other charges unless it is a in state purchase which then makes sales tax a must for us.

Yes, welcome to Kalifornia - the land of fruits and nuts. One day, after the BIG ONE, it will all be in the ocean and Arizona/Nevada will become beach front property.
