Selling a pistol to an Idaho resident in Ca.

I want to sell a pistol to an Idaho resident who is stationed here (Navy). He has requested that we do a transfer using this form...

...rather than going through the FFL/DROS process. How does this jibe with all yall? The locals Ive spoken with have said its a no go, but with all the FUD going around I'm not sure whats what. Is there such an exemption for other state residents in Ca?

    No.

    Use an FFL.

The form you link to has nothing to do with a PPT.

I believe that he can use a copy of his orders to prove CA residency.

Yeah you could use that form, but you will still be guilty of not going through an FFL to do a transfer of a firearm in the state of California.

He can use his military ID with duty station orders to do a PPT or you can ship it back to a dealer in Idaho for him.

That form is for saying that you are no longer in possession of the firearm. It has NOTHING to do with allowing him to have the firearm nor transferring it to him. Either he knows what he is saying and is trying to pull a scam or he does not have a clue and is an idiot. Either way, it would not be good for you in the least.

If he is stationed in California, he is a California resident as far as BATF regulations are concerned. There is no exemption to the dealer transfer requirement.
