    Received High Cap Mag Permit

Received the permit in the mail today, thanks for the info on the good cause letter. How do you guys record acquisition and disposition record of high capacity magazines? Do you keep a separate bound book for this? I can see if they came with the gun the records would be kept in your normal bound book, but what if you just order the mags?
    Thanks in advance

All "Large Capacity Magazines" have to be logged, regardless if they come with a gun or not. The disposition tells DOJ what happened to them, as in; converted to 10/30 or sold to an LEO or sold with a gun to an LEO or out of state, something like that. I keep mine on an Excel spreadsheet and print it out when the DOJ inspector requests it. Do not disposition the Large Capacity Mag as a repair kit; you most likely will lose your permit if an inspector sees it in the log, just my opinion. With LEOs, I put their name in the disposition and keep a copy of their LEO ID card.

      Check out this thread.

In my opinion you are only required to log importation and exportation. So when you sell them in state, I wouldn't bother logging them. So if you bring them in and create parts kits out of them, that should never show up in your log unless you export them out of state as parts kits. Still I would not bring that up either.

Only log importation and exportation. If I sell you large capacity magazines in state, I wouldn't log those either.

Tenpercent has more experiance and I am very careful, maybe too careful. My recent DOJ inspection, I was asked to show my current "Large Capacity Magazine" permit, but not the actual log.

It's not so much that we are at odds. He is just doing what common sense would dictate. Like a federally required A&D log, everything and I mean everything gets logged in and out. However, California laws are asinine and made by fools. So when they wrote this one up, they said to only track importation and exportation. Any other type of logging is extraneous.

And that might also be why the DOJ never asks to see anyone's large cap mag logs.
