    DROs and the 30 per hadgun

    I just found out yesterday on my 9th day wait that i was rejected from DOJ because I had purchased a handgun 12 days prior which I thought didn't apply because is was a pistol I purchased through a private party from out of state. Apparently that is not the case. I have to call the DOJ on Monday. My question is does the 30 day start from the date of start from the last handgun that I purchased 12 days prior?

    That pistol from out of state is considered a "dealer sale" for roster and DROS purposes. It's not considered a PPT. If the recent pistol was also a dealer sale, that purchase would have been rejected, just as it was.

      Ditto.

      FFL transfers count.
      Basically, if the transfer is not roster-exempt, the 1-30 also counts.

      The 30 days begins from the date of the initial DROS, so you can begin a new DROS on Jan-1, Feb-1, March-3, April-2, May-2, June-1, etc....

        yup, it is only a private party transfer if it comes from a CA-resident who hand-delivers it to your FFL and it is processed as a PPT DROS. The PPT DROS will have both the seller and buyer' info on it. A regular DROS only lists the FFL and the buyer.

        30-day clock starts when the first handgun was initially DROSed.

        Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

          It seems no matter how many questions are asked there are still more:

          "If" an Out of State intra family transfer, of a legal off roster handgun, is shipped tp CA via
          FFL;

          Does it count as a 1 in 30 purchase? or are intra family treated as PPT?

            yes, it falls under the 1-in-30 and is not a PPT. CADOJ considers a PPT to be a transfer only between 2 CA-residents in which the buyer and seller both go to the transfering FFL to do the paperwork.

              This type of info is good to know. I would not want to get a gun tied up in DROS over multiple purchases

                Not that I am an "expert" but I have bought (3) handguns in 33 days. Two were PPT and the 3rd was new. As I recall the paperwork for the "new" handgun specifically ask if you have purchased a handgun in the past 30 days.

                When PPT you are not asked this question.
