    PPT/Dealer Transfer Questions

I recently arranged the purchase of a used handgun from out of town, and just started the DROS at my FFL on June 17th. This gun was shipped to my FFL from a private party. Call this Gun "A". I paid FFL fees of $75.

Soon afterwards, I located another used handgun I will purchase. This one will be a FTF PPT at a local FFL. Call this one gun "B".

Question: Do I have to wait 30 days (from the Gun "A" DROS started June 17th) before I can begin the second DROS on Gun "B", which will be a FTF PPT?

I hope I explained this situation clearly...

    Thanks

No, unless you live in Los Angeles where they have their own local restriction.

PPT transfers are exempt from the 1 in 30 rule
I just bought (2) handguns 4 days apart. No problems

Any other dealer transfers must be conducted thirty 24 hour periods from Gun A. Gun B is not a dealer transfer, but a real PPT and is exempt from the 1 in 30 days.

Can you start the DROS process 21 days after the customer takes delivery of handgun # 1 so that he/she can pickup handgun # 2 exactly 31 days after picking up # 1 ?

The second DROS can be started 720+ hours after the first DROS was submitted. Minimum time for both handguns would be 40 days.

Again, 1 in 30 doesn't apply to FTF PPTs except LA.

its better to say that he can start the second DROS 30-days after he starts the first DROS. IF you try to use the "start a new DROS 21-days after he picks up the handgun", then you have to deal with "what if I don't pick up the handgun on the 10th day? Do I still have to wait 21-days?"

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Thank you guys very much... It's good to know I can proceed.

(Just curious; so in my case, Gun "A" was/is considered a dealer transaction, from dealer stock because the seller was not present?)

                Thanks again!

ADDED LATER: I think I found that answer in a separate post, that stated [by CSDGuy]:

That pistol from out of state is considered a "dealer sale" for roster and DROS purposes. It's not considered a PPT. If the recent pistol was also a dealer sale, that purchase would have been rejected, just as it was.

correct. And the easy way for you to confirm this is to look at your DROS paperwork. If it was a PPT transfer, it would say so, and have both the buyer and seller's info on it. But since it was not a PPT, it doesn't have any info regarding the seller on it, just the transfering FFL's info on it.
