If you got delayed, then the DOJ wants to talk to you about something in your past. Otherwise there is no reason for a delay.

Did the dealer run it as a 1 in 30 exempt if you had bought another handgun recently? That probably isn't it because usually they will just flat out reject you.

I doubt it. In fact, I think the only way to run one and have it be 1 in 30 exempt would be to run it as a Non-Roster Peace Officer. If you run it as a Curio/Relic/Olympic Pistol/Exempt, I don't think it excludes the 1 in 30. However, since you haven't started the new one yet, I doubt that is causing it.

I am sticking to the it has something specifically to do with you story.

It could be the gun serial number was reported stolen too.

My partner did that once. The gun came back stolen. Someone had reported two guns stolen and they gave them the model number instead of serial numbers. So the lady was convinced we had the stolen gun. My partner finally asked her how it was possible that two guns of the same type could be stolen with the same serial number. The light came on and she finally believed my partner when she gave her the real serial number.

                            It happens.
