I Need An FFL's Knowledge Please

I just sold an old Butler Creek 10/22 folding stock on eBay. The issue is, the guy that bought it lives in Chicago, Il. I have not shipped it to him yet, and will not ship it if the laws there prevent him from owning it. Do any of you know what the laws are regarding this folding stock in Chicago? Im not sure where I can go to confirm if it is legal there or not.

    Thank You in advance.

Tough one. Call one of these guys. I'll bet at least one of them will answer your question:

CheaperThanDirt won't ship that to any California zip codes either.

+1, CTD is probably the worst possible place to get advice.

Do't waste your time with CTD. They won't ship AR sling swivels to CA. I won't give them any bossiness since about half of my order would not be shipped anyway. They err on the side of EXTREME caution to the point that it is ridiculous.

None of our folding stocks have any restrictions on them, not legal advice i know but i would sell one there.

Fact is, its just a big piece of plastic until you fit it to a working firearm, then it converts that firearm. Some things we have to have the system flag a warning on when sending, stocks are not one of them we have ever flagged in the system.

I checked a couple of the drop shippers too who usually list where things cannot go and none of their stocks list any issues.

It seems to me that, unless you are a FFL, whose license demands that you obey all state laws, you aren't breaking the law, even if the stock is illegal in Il.
