    Tranferring a M3 50 BMG for repairs.

I bought a M3 BMG. I took it to the range and it shot great. Being an engineer I just couldn't wait to take it back home and take it apart...I should have waited!! I broke the trigger bar!

I need to ship the receiver back to CWA to have it fixed.

Does this shipment need to originate at a FFL.

Does it need to be sent back from the manufacturer to an FFL or can he send it directly back to me??

If you are shipping it straight back to the manufacturer, no FFL is needed. Unless for some stupid reason the manufacturer has a policy it be sent through a dealer, which I have never heard of.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

it can be sent directly back to you, no FFL needed to receive it. Both federal and state law allow for it. Now, if the receiver has to be swapped with one of a different serial number, CA law may require you to reDROS it through an FFL, but federal law allows for a swapped firearm to be sent directly back to the owner.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

No need to re-DROS if S/N changes in this case since it's not a handgun.

OP, congrats on your new acquisition. I like your style, decide on what you want, and go for it.

Happy days....Before I tried to take it down and clean it. One little known fact, at least to me...is that you need to remove the trigger bar pin before removing or installing the backplate on a M3. That's how I broke the trigger bar tip. But also, now the gun does not seem to cock!!

                The trigger bar.

I talked with Ed at CWA a day too late. Last night when I saw the bar was in the way of the buffer on the back plate I grinded it down the 1/16 it was out....bad decision, and I ruined the trigger bar geometry forever.
