Driver's license strips that don't read

I have heard that if a customer's DL magnetic strip does not read in the card reader, a dealer must wait until 5 PM to send in a DROS done by manual entry of information.

    Is this true?

The FFL needs to swipe the DL. If it does not work, then the FFL needs to make a copy of the DL and manually enter the information.

There is NO magic 5pm time. That is amusing and one of the funniest things I have recently heard as to why a delay is required. It does not make any sense at all, which is perhaps why it is funny to me.

Was it a PPT and they closed at 5 PM?

Yeah total FUD. If the DL doesn't work, just manually enter it between the hours of 7 AM and 11 PM.
