We're nice as we can be to you, even if you are completely wrong, blame us for something we had zero control over, (broken parts that you broke and took 2 months to arrive), cuss us out, tell us our shop sucks and doesn't have enough guns, say you're gonna sit outside and tell every customer we suck, and then even threaten us with physical violence as you're leaving. We'll still say have a nice day and actually mean it!

I usually stick to Breco in Clovis off Tollhouse & the Range Pistol Club - prob. because I'm a member and there are some good guys that work there yet there prices are on the high end yet with my 10% off membership perk I can't complain too much. Good luck with your venture, again a good gun shop if Fresno would thrive.
This is why i am in the process of opening a shop up. Been a member here for a few years under (julians4x4). Im about 1/2 way through the process, id say about mid-July to early August hopefully.......

I don't think shops realize that repeat customers are where they get their business from. I've bought all my guns from Iron Sights because I love that place. I could shop around and save a few bucks by ordering online [no sales tax] and getting it shipped to a cheap FFL around here. But I don't recall one time in which an employee was rude to me there, EVER. So I spend the few extra bucks and buy from those guys. There are exceptions of course but if the price is within $50-100 bucks of what I can get it from... I buy it from there.

Doesn't matter if a customer comes in to the store I work at to look around, buy a bag of cleaning patches or one of our higher end firearms, they all get the exact same treatment. Each and every customer is acknowledged as they walk in the door and are thanked for stopping by and/or their business. We make customer service number one priority at Tracy Rifle and Pistol.

A gun store in Riverside was closed, had a sign up that they are closed for the 3-day weekend.

I specifically wanted to go here! I planned this day!

So I went to Turner's and got a shotgun and Bass pro and got a pistol.

I have to agree with this becuase I went there to do a ppt and they hounded us to make sure our "ducks were in a row" paper work wise, which they were and then stated multiple times how they "loose $90 bucks" by doing a PPT which they are obviously mandated to do and made it very know to my party and other people in the store that they hate doing PPT's and were loosing money. I did not want to go there in the first place and this is one reason why. I won't step foot back into that place. Not to mention a ppt on a OLL took approx. 45 minutes!

How much was it for a PPT there anyways?

I think that the business itself makes people wary of strangers, which can come across as cold (or even hostile).
I've had good service at several gun shops, but always only after getting to know the owner/staff. This can take several visits - so I usually only make smaller purchases while I'm getting to know them. The exceptions have been chain sporting goods stores like Big 5 - where the problem is often that you have to wait for the unqualified employee to find the manager or gun counter qualified employee.

Another aspect is that the staff at many gun stores are the owner, the owner's buddies, or the owner's relatives. As an earlier poster pointed out, they are probably selected more for trustworthiness than any particular customer service skills.

$35.00 as it should be. They got that part right.

                            I'm very new to firearms

I can't believe how bad the customer service is from a lot of gunshops close to me (SF bay area). I'm glad I found this thread/forums. I am willing to drive a few hours to buy guns and ammo. Customer sercive is #1 in my book.

So far, I am going to visit Norse and Tenpercent to possibly buy my 308 rifle.

I agree when some said -"I will vote with my wallet".

                            Thanks folks.

                              Tax on Transfers?

Is this now required? I would not assume FFL's would just take it upon themselves to start doing this.

Regardless, I spoke with Matt at Enterprise Arms in Irwindale today about having a handgun shipped to me from out of state and he took all the time to answer EVERY question to my satisfaction in a very polite manner. He seemed eager to take care of the transaction and never have I been treated better in a shop. They are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Also, they have lowered their price on the transfers so that the end price is the same as before including tax. $44, more than fair.

The BOE says you have to. You could always pay it for the customer, but if you are not remitting the sales tax and you get audited, then you will have to pay it plus penalties and interest.
