Home Based FFL Dealers

Just wondering if anyone could give me a quick answer. I know that each city is going to be different, but do most cities allow home based FFL buisnesses? Specifically Redding? I've done the research into buisness licenses, State/Fed tax id numbers and I'm just trying to get this last question answered as I cannot find it yet in the zoning provisions the city has posted.

You need to talk to your local city. There should be a place for business licenses and they should be able to give you the information. Sometimes you won't get the truth though (LA County is such an example).

Some cities/counties allow it, others do not. LA County does not allow a home based business in which people have to come to the house, which makes it difficult to be a FFL there unless you just do Internet sales, but still, they won't give you the permits you need.

In my jurisdiction (county) you would have to contact the planning department. They like to make sure use is consistent with current general plan provisions. That goes for any business, home or otherwise. Personally, I think it is so they can figure out what fees and taxes they can nail you with, but that's just my jaded view of Kalifornia...
