    Screwed?

Unless I am blind, I can't find the Colt Python 6" "Blue" on the Roster, only Stainless. As an FFL I am getting ready to buy a used Python from a customer and have not yet received my Secondhand Gun Dealers permit. How am I going to take this in so that I can resell it to "civilians"? Can an FFL do a PPT for his own gun?

According to some BATF, no. Once you are a dealer, everything is through a dealer. However, have I heard of people doing PPTs as dealers and getting away with it? Yes. Federally, it says you have to log it into your books and can't do face to face unless you have the gun a year or if you do a 4473 on it. That makes it interesting in CA where you 4473 and DROS everything since we don't have face to face, just PPT. So technically, you don't have to keep it a year since you 4473ed it. The Federal law is mainly to keep gun dealers in FA from saying they did all these guns as face to face instead of using their license. In CA you are doing it because of the safe handgun list. I am not sure CA can do anything to stop you as it is legal for regular Joes to PPT, so why not dealers?

If I were you, I would just say, "Screw it isn't worth it" and never talk about this again. Then we will just assume you didn't do it and no one will ever ask about it again.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

It is not worth it, I will have to wait till my Secondhand Dealers permit arrives, should be here any day now. Hopefully then he still has the gun.
