Crazy question drosing just the frame...

Is it legal to dros just the frame of a handgun? The reason I ask is I was reading another thread and a gentleman was saying that he felt his pistol may have been shot by the FFL it was being held at for the 10 days. My rationale would be if it's ok to just dros the frame why not just leave the frame and take the slide with you on a PPT. Thanks for your info in advance.

Frame DROS would be ok for PPTs, but you must perform a safe handling demonstration at pick up.

Personally, I would find another FFL before I worried about DROSing half a gun or you can always lock it with a unique cable lock or pad lock.
