My friend just got a ticket, can it interfere with DROS?

So my buddy was drinking on the beach with some friends last weekend. The cops pulled up and cited him for "minor in possession."

Not only that, but the idiot tried to avoid getting caught, so he threw the drink into the fire right after he realized it was cops. So they also cited him for littering!!

Lastly, since he didn't have his ID on him, they also cited him for not possessing a valid ID.

He was talking about DROS'ing a Saiga within the next week or so. Will he fail DROS because of this incident?

Last time I checked, "not possessing a valid ID" was not a crime, unless driving.

As far as the DROS is considered, none of those things are a felony (AFAIK) so they shouldn't interfere, but I'll wait for some more knowledgeable CG'ers to weigh in before I give a full decision.

        (scratches head at ID issue)
He got a ticket for littering? Like a 1000 dollar ticket for throwing a bottle into the fire?!? Don't you have to clean those out before you leave anyways?
It will have no affect on his DROS.

Tell me about it Andrew! The alcohol I can understand...But the littering?! Give me a break!

Well VSY05, trust me when I say "my buddy" is very relieved it wont affect DROS...

if the "friend" had a failure to appear, would that change the dros situation?

how about you tell your friend to go to his court date
ignoring a court date is like shooting yourself in the foot

only CONVICTIONS show up on your record, so if it was last week he has plenty of time.

Turo is correct, it is NOT a crime to not have a valid ID. It IS a crime if you give the cops false info and they find out......

                  good luck...........
