    Bound Book Question

    Under the column of:
    "Type of Gun / Action"

Where is the list of appropriate values to use?

Do we match the 4473 with just the list of:

    Pistol, Revolver, Receiver, Rifle, Shotgun

OR do we merge what we see between the DROS and 4473 such as:

Semi-Automatic Pistol, Single Shot Pistol, Revolver, Receiver, Rifle, Shotgun, Frame, etc...

I've been using the merged list, but someone brought up in another thread whether or not the requirement was to specify Single Shot Pistol vs. Pistol. I did some searching and couldn't find a specific answer so now am curious what everyone else is doing. I'd rather it be more general as on the 4473.

So for those that have been audited (I haven't yet because I'm a newb), if you had just "Pistol" on the bound book, but it was DROSd as Single Shot Pistol, did you receive any grief from the DOJ Inspector?

The DOJ does not have the right to look at your A&D Book.

That's good to know. For some reason I thought they did. In any case, that means the DOJ only has the right to look at DROS paperwork, correct?

ugimports, when I was inspected by Fed DOJ, they looked at my bound book and were completely satisfied with 4473 list discriptions. Still waiting for the state boys.

            I've only ever used:

            PISTOL
            REVOLVER
            RIFLE
            RECEIVER
            SHOTGUN

            No problems during inspections

This is all we use and were instructed by the ATF that that's what we should be using.

I will occasionally put notes in another column for specific stuff where we want to make sure there's no confusion on, like the time we transferred an LMT M203 in "Cal 40mm".

I made sure that there was a note in the book that said "Title 1 receiver ONLY" and type was "receiver" as well.
