    Hi-cap mag request

Thought I would share an interesting email that came in on a request for Hi-cap mags. So, what say you (formum members?) Had he told me this as for a "repair" maybe I wouldn't have the slight adverse reaction I am feeling....(then add to it the lack of courtesy by sending out a blast email!)

    Hello,

I want 5 full capacity Glock 17 magazines (Mfg Item Num: MF17117) sent to me in California so that I can modify them myself in way that limits them to 10 rounds (CA legal) but is removable for when I go out of state. To do this I would require you to disassemble the magazines first, then you can LEGALLY ship them to my CA address as disassembled component parts.

I am emailing several resellers with this same request and the first to respond that is willing to do this will get my business. Please contact me asap and let me know if your company is willing to fulfill this request.

    Thank You Much,
    (name withheld by me)

since he is blasting the email, I think you should 'un-withhold' the name.

we would like to have a heads up on this one.

He is admitting that he wants to do an ILLEGAL NON-PERMANTENT 10 round modification to use in California! That is a definate red flag!!!!!!! While he could have stated that he wanted them for repair, to make permantent 10 round mags or only assemble them when out of state, he did not. He instead choose to either try to entrap you or he does not know the law as well as he thinks he does. In either case, I would use my right to refuse service to him and send him a link to this thread.

e-mail him back and let him know that what he is advocating is illegal. He cannot have them be ten rounders in the state and be capable of going back to large caps out of state. He can keep them disassembled in state, use them as large cap out of state, and take them back apart out of state.

This is why I don't want to be in the rebuild business.

shouldnt even tell him that much.

he either doesnt 'get it'...and wont.

or, he 'gets it' fine, and is trying to guide you/me/us down the primrose path.

either way, I say post up the email and circulate his name. he is dangerous.

Since 10 round factory Glock mags are easy to get in California at a reasonable price, I'd venture to say he has no intention of making them 10 rounders. Just my $0.02.

The person could be a troll trying to get the OP in trouble by committing an illegal act.

Or the person could just have poor grammar or English language skills..

Or the person has a poor/incorrect understanding of the laws. Someone should set him straight.

I sounded like he was trying to circumvent the law but didn't truly understand it to skirt it properly.

Since I last responded to you I have received several messages similar to yours regarding my request. I clearly was unaware how my message sounded from the other side and I apologize if I seemed cross with you as it was obviously my error of miscommunication causing the problem. Please accept my most sincere apologies for taking offense when it was who I failed to clarify myself properly.
