Taking back possession of a consignment rifle

Some time ago I purchased a consignment rifle from a California shop. During the 10 day waiting period I purchased a second rifle which I like better from another source. So after the 10 day time period I decided to have the first rifle put back on the consignment rack in the same store I purchased it from. The rifle never left the premises. After nearly a year I didn't get the price I wanted so I've decided to take the rifle home. I am being told that I need to pay a fee, fill out more paperwork, and wait 10 days again.

Am I being given the run-around or is this really the law? I don't mind the fee, but it makes no sense to run another check and wait 10 days. Why would the State do that? I owned the gun and it could have just been locked in a closet instead of locked in a gun store.

I would appreciate insight.

yes, AFAIK, if you leave a cosignment firearm at the dealer for more than 30-days, it must be reDROSed back to you. the "reason" is that you may have become "prohibited" from the time you dropped off the firearm to the time you picked it up.

Consgnment is the same as a pawn shop they have to do a return to owner along with the 10 day wait.

Hi guys. So let me get this straight.... I put my rifle on consignment 2weeks ago. If I want to take it back off today, do I have to do the DROSS+10days? I'm getting conflicting info. 3 shops including where I have it told me....if you consign it and change your mind the next day, you will need to pay the DROSS+10 day wait to get it back. I tend to believe Jack above is right but the shop says different. Help.
