Shipping pistol for a trigger job....How to ship?

I am required by law to ship a firearm next day air? I plan to ship UPS. I know it is required by law to to disclose the content of the package.

Other alternatives to find a FFL dealer that can ship USPS, but haven't able to find one yet.

What is the process for shipping through FFL? Do I package it myself with prepaid postage with the FFL dealer's return address? Once the job is done, does it get returned to the FFL Dealer?

I am located in Orange County. If someone here with an FFL license can help, please let me know. I cost savings with be significant.

There's no law requiring next day air. The private shippers have that policy though. No shipping of handguns via the US mail either (unless both are FFL's). You ship it with your return address, and it's shipped back to you when it's done. You could go through an FFL to ship it out, but why spend the extra cash.

If in any case my package get's lost, will UPS honor my declared value if I ship 2nd day air?

I don't know, but UPS has an econo next day air. I think it's about $25 for an average weight of a handgun with a plastic case. Personally, I wouldn't spend $25 to ship it out for a $40 trigger job plus the shipping back to me. Take to a local smith. Bain and Davis in San Gabriel is good. King's in Burbank too, and many others.

(Note: Receivers or frames of a firearm, firearm mufflers and silencers are considered "firearms" and are accepted for transportation only if shipped in accordance with UPS's requirements for shipping firearms.)

I shipped a handgun via FEDEX to a dealer in South Carolina for a family transfer in 2008. FEDEX allowed me to use the 3 day service. I think it cost less than $25. I remember it was much cheaper than UPS and the service I got from FEDEX was great.
I took it to the FEDEX location in Walnut/City of Industry, CA.

Those items listed are considered firearms. You must fill out a 4473 for all of them, hence, firearm.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

no, it isn't. If you are shipping to an FFL, there is no state or federal requirement that you notifiy the shiper of the contents. If you wer shipping to a non-licensee, then, yes, you must notify.

Nope, as in those ARE considered firearms and he cannot just break them down.
