    Registering an off list handgun

Pistol comes in from Idaho years ago when Idaho resident moves into california. Law changes but gun is not registered out of ignorance. Owner dies and son gets the gun. Son now sells the gun but how does the new owner get it registered in california if he does not want to keep it unregistered. In short how do you comply with the law without getting hurt with a fine or losing the psitol. I know of more than a few of these situations but people are scared they will lose their guns trying to do the right thing. thanks

son just does a PPT transfer to the new owner at an FFL. CADOJ realizes that "off-the-books" transfers do happen, and would rather get the gun "back-on-the-books" than to go after the son for having an unregistered handgun.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

thank you. I will tell them that. It isn't a money issue but just wanting to do the right thing without being harmed for trying.
