It can be cheaper to ship it through a FFL since then it can be shipped USPS, instead of the more expensive means which UPS and FedEx require.Kemasa.

As long as the shipping FFL doesn't charge anything for their time. $25 sounds fair for the time I spend to put your pistol in my book and generate a CFLC and store your receivers FFL. Add that to shipping and you are hosed.
Tell that FFL he is a tool and find someone else. I hate when they make more restrictive rules than the law. Lame.www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.Comment

We'll take it over here in Fremont. You can ship UPS or FedEx to me. Also include a Personal Sales Form: http://www.ugimports.com/docs/UGI_Personal_Sale.pdf
I use that for documentation so I don't have to charge the buyer sales tax.
Buyer can get information on transferring with UG Imports here:
Hopefully we're located in a good spot for them.UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

If you look at the difference in the cost of shipping USPS vs. UPS or FedEx, even with paying the FFL, it can be cheaper. Expensive firearms can change that since insurance is more expensive at the post office.
I generally have the seller have the firearm all ready to go, I just look at the firearm, record the info and drop it off at the post office. It does not take much time. There is slightly more effort with CA shipping, but getting FFLs by email is simple enough and does not take much time at all.
I do agree that it is best to find another FFL since they should be willing to accept the firearm from a private party and that is a sign of someone who is unreasonable, so you might find additional issues in the future with them.Last edited by kemasa; 02-23-2010, 4:10 PM.Kemasa.
