What should I expect to pay for FFL transfer and DROSS

I am planning on purchasing a new GLOCK 19 from an online seller next month. I live in Southern California and want to know what is a fair price for having a dealer do this for me. Thanks in advance. Calguns.net is pretty cool! Oops.... I meant DROS

The DROS is $25. Everyone's idea of what a fair price is different. Most buyers do not consider the overhead of a business, including the licenses and permits needed to be a FFL nor the time involved to do all the paperwork. The prices that I am aware of are around $20-$150 plus the DROS fee.

You might also check to see what a local place can get it for you. If the firearm is from a business, sales tax is required to be collected, so you will be paying additional shipping and the profit from the other FFL. You need to look at the total cost to see which way is better.
    Kemasa.

Depending where you go the transfer fee can range from $25-$150. The DROS fee itself will always be $25.00

Many people recommend Ammo Bros in Southern Cal. I've never been there, but a buddy of mind recommends them. Kemasa is in the Northern LA County. All depends where you live and how far you want to drive. I'm sure the other SoCal FFLs can give you better direction if provide more detail on where you live (such as zipcode) and how far you're willing to drive.

If an out of state/shipped purchase is made from a private party, is sales tax still collected?

It should not, but the receiving CA FFL may require documentation as proof from the seller. At my shop we use a Personal Sale Form:

This isn't required by law, but it helps me document the seller wasn't a business. I haven't had an issue with any legitimate private seller filling this out. I tell my customers if I don't receive the form I'd be required to collect sales tax. I've told the seller's that too and they have been fine filling it out for my customers.
