    Question for the experts

I am trying to purchase a wepon through the Springfield Military sales office. The prices are great, but the nearest distributor is a long way from San Diego. I wanted to use the gun shop on Camp Pendelton, this will save the sales tax as well... but they tell me they dont do transfers that I had to use a public FFL and pay the tax. My question is this, I know that CA law says they have to do the transfer, but given the fact it is on a military instalation do they get an exemption. If not is it worth the 45 bucks in saving on taxes to push the issue?

If not I am thinking of going through royal loan or gusslers here in san diego. The price even with tax and dross will be about 550 for the 1911 GI model. cant beat that!!!

The on-base FFL does NOT have to do a transfer for you. It is not required by CA DOJ. They must perform Private Party Transfers, but there is no requirement to do internet transfers. Sorry, but that's the reality. You will have to find another FFL that will do your internet transfer.

No worry's, I thought that might be the case. What is the tax rate on a firearm, I know there is more then straight sales tax.

          Nope, just sales tax.
