Why are some FFLs such a PITA?

A customer sold his rifle to an out-of-state buyer. The OOS FFL will not accept firearms from non-licensees; so, my customer asked me to ship it. No big deal, right? WRONG! The OOS dealer will not accept the firearm unless I fax a copy of my FFL first (still not unusual) but he also wants a copy of the "invoice" I gave to my customer and a copy of my customer's driver's license. WTH?

I called the dealer to find out if I read his email request correctly. His response was "I need to know who the firearm is coming from".

Unless it was a really good customer, I would charge $50 to do all of that. I hate doing unnecessary paperwork more than anything else I do. If I were you, I would send your own DL , but use the customer information on everything else when you ship the gun. If he wants to be a douche, be a douche back. What is he going to do? Send the gun back? When he doesn't and the customer gets it, then send him an e-mail and tell him how stupid his policies were as seeing he still did the transaction with all sorts of faulty data anyway. Tell him to quit being an idiot and being more strict the anti-gun laws that are already on the books.

Wes, he demanded the FFL, my invoice, and customer's DL up front. My customer (a good one) had no objection to emailing the jerk a copy, so I did. God, I hate dealers who think they are Jr. G-Men.

Take his e-mail address and submit it to some spam networks.

Apparently the guy wasn't satisfied with the invoice I sent. He made my customer write one up and send it to him. WTH is wrong with this guy?

I could ask what state he is in as I have had issues with FFLs in certain states, but I would had to confirm the stereotype :-).

It is just one of those things.
