Questions about zoning and getting 06 FFL

I am looking into getting an 06 FFL. Not in California, but I spend a lot of time in california and this site has been very informative. I have ordered the FFL application packet from ATF so maybe I am jumping the gun and the info would be in the packet when it arrives.

I understand that ATF will not give you a FFL unless your location is zoned properly, but I am not sure how to go about providing that info to ATF. Is there a form that I get signed off on? Do I apply for a business license with my city and if I get it then I'm good? Any info would be appreciated.

Bolded part, yes. If there's no business license needed, such as if you're in unincorporated territory then it's a matter of you insuring you're zoned properly. You don't necessarily have to have paperwork since when you get the ATF license part of the requirement is that you knowingly are complying with all local laws. They don't ask for any proof. Here's an illustration of what happened with me (in CA):

1. Got LLC
2. Got Sales Tax Certificate (for retail sales)
3. Got FFL (the part your asking about)
4. Got Business License
5. Got CFD

So as you can see, the local stuff isn't required before you get your FFL, but you will need it if required for the area you plan on operating out of.
