Need CA Friendly Portland Maine FFL01

I located a C&R handgun I want to purchase from a private party in the Portland Maine area. The private party will not ship directly to a CA FFL01 and I have been unsuccessful in locating an FFL01 in his area who is DOJ registered (or willing to do so). I tried the FFL01 lists on the auction sites to no avail. Anyone know of any CA Friendly FFL01s in that area or have any other suggestions? Thanks,

Why wouldn't the private party want to ship to a CA FFL? They are not required to register for the CFLC. They just ship the gun.

Simply explain that to the seller and I am not even remotely sure why that would be an issue. They and you might be under the impression they have to register with the CFLC. All they have to do is verify the FFL info with the ATF EZ Check and they are done.

tetenpercentfirearms, I agree 100 percent, there is no legal reason why a private party can't ship to a CA FFL01, although the proper shipping options are a bit more expense for non-licensees. I've tried to reason with this person, but they seem uncomfortable to the point of not even being willing to consider it, and I’m afraid if I push them any harder, they will simply not sell it to me. I can only surmise that they have some preconceived notion about the legality and refuse to accept any other view. I’m going to try to locate a Portland Maine area FFL01 who is CA DOJ registered. If that fails, I’ll be back trying to convenience them one more time. Sending them the CA DOJ link you provided may help.

You can also call the DOJ BOF field agents and put him on a three way phone call. Ask them straight up and they will tell you the correct answer, on this one.

Unfortunately this is what happens when you try to purchase a gun from America and have it imported into Kalifornia.
