White 4473

I have the latest 4473 according to the form # 5300.9 and date "revised August 2008". Even if you go on the ATF web site and dowload the PDF of the latest 4473, it is exactly the same form...but mine are white. Can I use them?

Should be yellow.. The new ones as of January last year were yellow. There was a short period of time when the ATF couldn't keep up with the printing requests, and I was advised to make copies, on yellow paper. I've never seen the current form on white paper. I'd make a call to confirm before I used them.

I ordered 500 of them from ATF and recieved them a few months back (the whole pamphlet type) and they are white.

Same here, everything I got was white. Shrink wrapped and all. When I had my ATF interview she showed me a white one when walking me through it.

Correct. White is what they are sending out currently but other than color they are no different than the yellow August 2008 (5300.9) with side binding.

The idiots went and start putting them on white again. I have both and my auditors confirmed it and they rolled their eyes too!

Ha! Learn something new everyday.. I ordered a crap-load of yellow ones, and havent needed anymore, so I guess thats why!

Yeah, I think I will use e4473 instead. I was at Office Depot to check out fire resistant file cabinets...$1,119.00 for one 4 drawer, 1 hour at 350 degrees F. Is this what they really cost, heck I could by another safe for that and it has more room and is more fire resistant, and more secure to boot.

Hmmm, I was joking. I found the e4473 a pain to use, plus you have to have the computer accessible for the customer. You can just print out the form, including the instructions, but I find it cheaper and easier to order the forms from the BATF.

I use my own version of the e4773. Most of my customers like it and it's not as cumbersome as the ATF software. After it prints out you wouldn't be able to tell the difference as to which software program generated it.

My setup might be different then yours. I actually have 2 computers set up. The one I do all my crap on and the 2nd just for the customer to 4473 on. In the future I'm going to have it so they can also fill out their safe affidavit on it as well.

That sounds like an improvement, perhaps you should contact the BATF and convince them to use your software (yeah, you have a better chance of winning the lottery).

I've been using e4473 for some time now without any real difficulties. If people are uncomfortable with entering their info I'll let them do a manual form but I really like the fact that at least I can read the 4473 when it prints out.

Agreed, I give the option for them to write as well.
