I am good, I have a ton of free locks. Seriously, start calling local PDs in your area and see if they have a bunch sitting around and offer to take them and give them out to customers for them. Tell them that if anyone comes in and asks for one, send them to you and you will give them one.

My PD/SD don't seem to keep up their inventories.

ETA: Just sent an email to the Sheriff requesting a quantity. Let's hope he understands that he can save his constituents some money

I've been in contact with DAC, and got some good pricing, but I'm still looking. Regal hasn't called me back yet due to SHOT, but hopefully I'll hear from them next week.

Are they all out of the Project Childsafe locks? I'm in a decent sized city (pop 200k) and I just got the below response based on an email I sent last night!

The Fremont PD website says that Project Childsafe gunlocks are available 24x7 (http://www.fremontpolice.org/com_eng...un_safety.html). I sent a customer over there Thursday evening around 7:30pm and he was told the lobby was closed and that he would only be able to get a lock from 8am-5pm. I would like to find out if you have excess stock of the locks that I could give away as they are requested by customers. I am a local firearms retailer and federal/state laws require all firearms to have a lock when they are picked up. I do not believe I should profit off of the need of customers requiring a safety device. I would like to
provide the customers that do not have their own safety devices with locks if there is any excess inventory sitting around. I would be happy to come pick up any excess inventory that you have.

As soon as I can get into our store room I can let you know what we have available to give out. We haven't received a shipment from the State Department for a year or two but I'm sure we have a few boxes we can give you.

I will also have the information on the website changed regarding the hours available to pick up the locks.

Granted I don't know how many they'll actually give me or what they actually have left, but they were more than happy after receiving a single email to donate them for me to pass out. Maybe I'm just getting lucky..hell the permit process was hell in this city so maybe this is my consolation prize.

So I just got a call back. I just earned 100 free locks! Woohoo for me and my customers!

While I was at the Sheriff's office, the clerk who is handling my locks mentioned that Project ChildSafe sent her a form letter urging AG Holder to keep up funding for the project. Apparently there is a chance he will not do so. The form letter was designed for LE agencies. Maybe I'll pen my own.

We just have a standing policy to buy CA approved locks from customers who've accumulated absurd quantities of them that they don't use for $1 .... and we sell them for $1
