FTF transfer

I was told that 2 people can do a FTF sale of a rifle without any paperwork. I am one of those that would rather ere on the conservative side. I am looking for confirmation fore or against this. I know in other states at a gunshow its OK etc but not in the Republic of California.

What people often refer to as the "C&R" exemption, is really the "C&R long guns over 50 years old" exemption. C&R long guns that are less than 50 years old still have to go through a California licensed dealer when transfered in California.

CPC 12078(t)(2)

Subdivision (d) and paragraph (1) of subdivision (f) of Section 12072 shall not apply to the infrequent sale, loan, or transfer of a firearm that is not a handgun, which is a curio or relic manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations, or its successor.

Stay on the righteous path, my friend. Even if its a C&R, I would still go to an FFL to get it checked out.

The 50 year time frame. If the buyer is unsure, a harmless visit to an FFL will remove any doubt.
