Expired Drivers license and DROS Question

I had a birthday that passed 2 weeks ago and I just realized that my driver license is expired. I plan on purchasing a firearm this week. My question is will they accept my expired DL, if not will a passport work.

I don't want to wait 2 weeks to get my renewed license in the mail.

AFAIK, can't purchase with an expired DL. Passport isn't acceptable. Gonna have to wait for a new DL.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

The very first thing that bounces a DROS back is an expired DL. Denied even before it hits the DOJ.

Sorry, until you have a valid DL, you can try DROSing but it is going to cost you at least $25 as you will get denied.

I just let mine expire last month. I couldn't even buy beer! It took about 10 business days to get mine in the mail.

Do you guys know if getting a CA ID is faster than getting DL? When I go to the DMV tomorrow I might just get both and see which one gets to me faster, but I don't want to waste my money if the turnaround is the same.

I bet it's the same. They still gotta slap your info and pic on a card and send it to you.
