Ok I checked the DOJ website for prohibited firearm owners and I am not one of those people. I am on summary probation for a non-violent misdemeanor for another 9 months or so. Will I have any problem getting "approved" to own a firearm? A few of my buddies say I should be fine but I am still sorta nervous.

These days a denial may be from something you are not even thinking about. Un-paid tickets, child support, failure to appear, etc.

Thanks Halifax, I am pretty sure I am good to go in that area. Ok so I oredered the gun online, they said they would ship it out as soon as they have one with a 10 rd. magazine. Then I filled out a ship-in form with my local dealer, at what point in the process will they send out my info to get a DOJ background test? Are they going to wait for the handgun to come in then send out the info or will they have done that as soon as they got all my info? You will meet with your dealer, usually after the handgun has arrived, and present your valid CA DL or ID, HSC, and a proof of residency. The dealer will submit the data to the DOJ. At that point, your ten 24hr wait begins.Jim
