    Off-Roster Sales Dealer list

    Hi,

Are there a list of Gun Stores in Northern California that perform the Single-Shot Exception for Off-Roster handguns.
I am interested in purchasing a Taurus (thx P5Ret) Raging Hunter in .44

I think you're looking for a Taurus, not a Ruger.

I don't think there is any list. You're going to have to call around on that one. I would specifically look for a shop that has a gunsmith though, so that may narrow it down a bit.

Try loyal arms in Folsom. They had a few off roster single shots.

To split a hair or two.
In 2014, a new law made it illegal to convert an existing semi auto firearm to single shot.
Pistols originally manufactured as single shot are still exempt from roster.

A Single Action revolver is by definition, an exemption from the Roster.
In addition, the revolver must have a barrel at least 3" in length, an overall length of 7.5", and a cylinder that holds at least 5 rounds.

A big question is does modifying a DA/SA pistol to a SA only constitute 'manufacturing an unsafe handgun'. If the gun is converted prior to the FFL receiving it (coming from out of state), no problem but many FFL's, even the ones with an 07, will not do the work themselves. They have been scared into submission.

I would absolutely love an official Opinion Letter from either the DOJ (not gonna happen) or a CRPA Attorney to clear this up.
