    Post-manufacturer repair shipping question

Need input of California FFLs here. This is the scenario:

Non-FFL California gun owner needs to send his pistol back to the manufacturer for repair. Manufacturer completes repair without changing the frame (i.e. the serial number has not changed), but insists on shipping it to an FFL rather than directly to the owner.

Does the FFL have to receive/check in the gun in some manner that would require the owner to have to re-DROS it? I know that it can be legally shipped directly back to the owner since the serial number remains unchanged, but let's say the manufacturer insists on it going to an FFL.

I wouldn't think a re-DROS would be necessary, but I don't know what you folks are required to do when you receive a gun in this instance. I appreciate your input.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

If your dealer receives the shipment, it would need to go through DROS/4473 again. He cannot just hand it to you. Federal and state law applies here.

I agree. And this is how stupid this is. If the FFL had received the gun from the end user and then shipped it to be gunsmithed, then no re-DROS required. However, if the manufacturer just sends it to the dealer, re-DROS required.

Further, is the gun now required to be on the roster? Here is the penal code dealing with roster exemptions. Which one would it be?
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.
