My brother lives in Florida and wants to send me a pistol (Walther PD380) as a gift. How do I do it so that I can legally register it in California? I'm assuming I go through FFL's from Florida to an FFL in California, but would like confirmation via FFL's. Does it have to be new, or used, or what?

Florida to California via FFL's?

Would have to be on the CA handgun roster since a gift from a sibling is not valid for interstate/intrafamily exemption. Would need to be shipped to a CA FFL. Talk to your dealer to determine if they would accept shipment from an individual or only from another FFL. -
That Walther isn't on the DOJ Roster and as EBR said, interfamilial transfers from out of state don't include brothers. Out of state interfamilial transfers only go vertical, not sideways.
Some have suggested one could go brother to father and then father to other brother but that's a pretty clear violation.Comment
