Smith & Wesson Model 14-3 Single Action Only

My question is, can I purchase and import into the state of California a Smith & Wesson Model 14-3 single action only revolver? I have been shooting bullseye matches and found this revolver in Texas. My understanding is any single action revolver can be purchased and legally imported into California.

Ya, most single actions are roster exempt and can be brought into CA. Just make sure you have a FFL in CA who understands that includes handguns that started life as a double action but have been converted. Not all will deal with those.

Is it still ok to send a handgun through USPS with a 1508 form? Looking at the regulations it says yes in one part than in other part it say you can?t ship a frame. I went to my local USPS office for clarification. They said they never saw such a form before and to come back tomorrow for an answer. Ok, I thought I?d open a FedEx small business account but was told I would not qualify for a firearm compliance agreement because I would have to ship over 100 lbs s month I assume UPS would be the same.

Yes, as long as the gun meets certain other criteria (barrel at least 3" in length, an overall length of 7.5", and a cylinder that holds at least 5 rounds), then the roster does not apply to single-action guns.

If your not an FFL, you can't ship handguns thru USPS.

Every time I ship at a different post office I have to go through the same thing. They have never seen the form, don't know what to do with it, need a manager's approval, want to see my FFL...

It is still legal, but as SASS said, you have to be a FFL.
