Can FFLs accept an ammo shipment from a regular citizen from another state?

    Hello,

I am in Nevada and I need to start selling some of my ammo. I know that California stated that ammo go to an FFL requirement a while back.

(I know there is some curio with ffl03, etc, but not interested in that)

Can FFLs accept and do the correct ammo background check if the ammo is shipped from a non-FFL private citizen from another state?

    Thank you.

Plus, USPS and UPS don’t accept ammo shipments from individuals..They only accept from businesses that they have a contractual agreement with. Since it’s hazmat, don’t get caught trying to say it’s just heavy stuff or high speed hole punchers. Not something to play games with. If you have a business account, there may be a way.

Ron-solo FUD. Small shipments of small arms ammo is accepted from individuals at UPS and is not hazmat at all.

I didn?t even notice his reply lol. Been a long time since I was super active on Calguns. UPS does accept ammo from non FFLs. In fact, they are super nice about it, and even have a page explaining how they would like the shipment done. The only complaint I would ever have is that you have to get a UPS driver to your house or go to a customer center I think they call it.

Ok, hazmat was the wrong term. It?s technically ?Other Regulated Material-Domestic? and requires labeling as such. I recently checked the UPS website and it stated that ammo could only be shipped via contractual agreement. which is why I made my comment. I wanted to send a small quantity of ammo to my cousin in Oklahoma, so I hope I am wrong.

FYI, and error in a statement is not the same as ?FUD? which means ?Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt?. If I?m wrong, so be it. I?ve made mistakes before, and I?ll make them again.

So, as a retired police officer, I don?t want just anyone knowing where I live. Just trying to say it in a different way. Kind of like others saying ?Behind Enemy Lines? or something else. If that?s all you can say, who cares?

FedEx is similar. I don't know if they have a max, but they only accept ammo at their hub. You also need the haz mat symbol on the outside of the box. Its not the same haz mat like powder and primers - no extra fees, just the symbol. That's Federal law as far as I know and would apply to UPS as well. I cant say that with certainty though, I only use FedEx for ammo. UPS hub is too far away.

That is just a Limited Quantity marking (not haz-mat). You use on many types of packages, such as those containing aerosols, lighters, perfumes, nail polish, and many other items. And yes it is good for ammo

But that symbol does not say what is in the package. Most packages shipping with that symbol do not contain ammo.

Ya, poor choice of words on my account. It is used for a lot of things that have some level of hazard. I agree that not every box with that mark contains ammo, but all shipped ammo needs to have that mark.

It's a little scary the ex-LE was so ignorant of the law.

BTW, I have shipped thousands of rounds of ammo to gunbroker buyers direct. Not to kali obv.

No it isn't! He retired in 2011. Twelve years ago. Very few people on this forum can cite laws chapter and verse and I suspect that would include yourself. This is a "learning" forum for the exchange of ideas, procedures, and practices. Not for subtle criticism.
