    New 4473

    Hi All

Did the ATF come up with new regulations stating that gun store employees can't help explain the questions on the 4473?

For some reason, some of the gun store employees I know are stating that with the new form there isn't a way for a gun store employee to clarify what a question means with the new form.

Minor thread-jack: Has anyone else seen the new e-4473 where the clerk has you scan a QR code, and you fill out the 4473 on your smartphone?

I saw it for the first time on Saturday. I've done plenty on iPad Minis, but never the QR/Smartphone route.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
    Come on...what harm??

So no smart phone, no sales?

      Just curious.

I didn't think to ask...but I think they have an iPad to hand you if needed.

The other shop I use has no paper 4473 at all. All done on iPad Mini's.

          Thanks again.

Not as far off as one might think. Newer AI technology is making the world more and more invasive. Less about the internet going down, then about people getting fed up with the digital invasion and security weaknesses. One more thing hackers can hack. Did anyone see the article where an AI scavenged something like 30 million Facebook photos and sent them to law enforcement? Imagine waking up one day to a knock on the door because you were picked out of a line up.

Tying back to the original thread starter, if this is where it's going, I probably better get moving on some of the things I'd like to buy. I do not want to have to fill out a 4473 on an iPad giving one more weakpoint for hackers to hack.

Answering questions is part of the business. I've done so for many years for customers that don't fully understand the meaning of some questions. What the heck, even FFL's have questions at times and have to rely on other FFL's to answer them. That's what this and the FFL ONLY Forum is all about.
You just have to make sure YOU"RE not answering the question for them. That would be a problem!!

Theres a big difference between explaining what "adjudicated" means to somebody and telling them to answer Yes here and no here etc.

I have customers ask me "So the answers are Yes and No to XYZ"...my response is typically, "I don't know...The only right answer is you answering truthfully..."

As mentioned above I will provide clarification or point them to the "help" on the 4473. The biggest issue I've seen is 21(b)..most people don't realize it's a 2 part question and they only focus on the first half of it...
